Prepositions (Part II) Advanced

A preposition is a kind of connector for it expresses the relationship of the noun or pronoun that were used to other words in the sentence. This relationship may express a location, direction, time, cause or possession. The position that a preposition holds in a sentence then is significant for it establishes a particular relationship.





As you can see very clearly, they work just like connectors. Without them, it will be impossible to understand what is being said or written. We need to study them very closely.

Since you have learn about them, it is a must to have a close grip over the sense of them. For this purpose, try to understand the following structures.




Prepositional Phrases:
Now I would like to throw some light upon prepositional phrases. They are nothing much but just paired prepositions. BUT it is very necessary to know that after pairing, they might gain entirely different sense. Hence, you need to learn them separately. For example:






Again, I would like to recommend the below given list of some commonly used prepositional phrases. Some of them may look familiar, while some may not.  You had better have a close look.
